So anyone who knows me, knows that all forms of Rock music are just as near and dear to my heart as all the forms of Hip-Hop music.  I am a rapper! I take pride in being a rapper. I literally feel like I have super powers as a emcee. That being said, its the influence from rock and alternative artist that really makes me different and unique. I know rappers find inspirations from all kinds of genres, and Rock/Alternative is my antithesis to hiphop.

So all this being said, one of the things that I KNOW is going to happen when I break into the rap game is that I'm going to get compared to Lil Uzi Vert. FIRST AND FOREMOST I WANT TO SAY THIS IS NOT A DISS TO Uzi.  I Fuck with Uzi heavy! I respect and do recognize him as being a pioneer for this raprock energy thats being bought into the game. So that being said, I definitely can understand why any guy or gal who comes into the rap game with rock and alternative influence is going to be compared to Uzi.

When Trippie Redd first came out earlier in 2017, a lot of people were starting to call him UZI 2.0 and he took offense to that. I understand why he took offense completely, especially me being a rapper myself. In this day of age though, when your a new artist, people need like a reference point bascially for what your sound is like until you build your brand bigger. So to be compared to Uzi is actually a compliment in my head now. Its a compliment because if Uzi is the number one person in that lane right now, than its good that, thats who Im getting compared to, is where my head is at.

Just know that I do not have any intentions to stand in his shadow and I plan on not only getting out of his shadow but being my own man. Thats where I hope Trippie Redd's head is at.

So, let me get to the point of this blog post. I AM NOT HATING ON UZI but I have to say, after deliberation, I truly think that Trippie Redd is the more skilled rapper.

Im not a hater ! I Can just read authenticity. From the time Lil Uzi Came out, I fucked with him, but his brand and image far as the rock stuff goes always seemed kinda inauthentic and gimmicky. Fashion and brandwise I can DEFINITELY see the rock influence, but when it came to the music? I just couldnt hear it. Songs like XO Tour Life definitely have the punk rock cadence and the emo energy, Ill def give him that.

But something I cant stand is when Rappers really claim the rock wave but dont put out any authentic rock music. I play guitar. I spent hours studying up on the culutre of rock music from the 50s through present day. I pay atttention to the authenticity of stuff in that realm basically and not to say that Uzi didnt do those things too. Im sure he genuinely does love Marilyn Manson and is inspired by Paramore BUT it still seemed like he was using the rock aspect as a gimmick for his brand and the influence wasnt showing in his music.

Fast foward to Trippie Redd breaking; like i said I AM NOT A HATER! Real Recognize Real. Trippie hasnt released not one rock song yet to my knowledge and he doesnt blatantly talk about him being a rock rapper or anything of that sort. BUT, I can listen to his music, I can listen to him speak in interviews, I can see his social media post, and I KNOW

I KNOW This nigga is REALLY about that rock and alternative life. Theres an authenticity to him to where me being a person who legit studied the culture, I know hes REALLY up on that rock shit, and its not gimmicky or disingenuous. It shows in his music , too.

Trippie Redd also has an amazing voice. That nigga sing better than me, I admit it! That boy can sing!!! lol He sings better than Uzi vert and comes up with better cadences in my opinion. I also beleive him to be a better song writer. I listen to a lot of Uzi songs and they be dope but Its almost like he wasnt even trying when he wrote it. He relies on his style/brand to carry himself basically. And thats totally fine, too. The most amazing part about that is that even when it seems hes not trying to write dope lyrics, he still makes hits. So hey, more power to him if he can make hits that way.

That being said though, I, as a songwriter myself, I pay attention and Trippie is amazing at fitting words into his cadences; and not just fitting words but using dope words and lines, etc, to fit into the cadence.

So in conclusion, I think there are 3 main elements to being an Emcee that will make or break you as a rapper. Your Vocal Abilities, Your Song Writing Abilities , and your Style/brand.

While Uzi has DEFINITELY built a strong brand for himself stylistically, I thnk Trippie has him beat as far as the other two elements: Vocal abilities and Song writing abilities. This is why I think Trippie Redd will be one of, if not THE best new coming rapper from his class.

Only time can tell and I'm hoping there will be plenty of room in the game for a new wave of Rap Rockers. Fuck that crab in the barrel mentality. I feel like we can make Rap Rock the new wave! Gotta do it together though.

Thanks for yalls time as always!

Peace, Love, And Light to all :)

Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle

Back for the new years, guys! Here's to a great 2018.

Today, I want to talk about the sequel to the 1995 Robin Williams lead classic "Jumanji". Dude! When I tell you that, that movie was one of the highlights of my childhood! I had that jaunt on VHS and I played it till it couldnt play no more, literally!

So, when I first heard that a direct sequel was coming out to Jumanji AND it was starring The Rock, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black?!?! I was really excited ! I was hopeful.

BUT THEN I SAW THE FIRST TRAILER......

and bruh, when I tell you , I was PISSED! I mean PISSED! I was like wtf is this, my G?

The thing that I always liked so much about the original movie was that they brought the jungle into the real world. That was so unique and it's what made it so loveable and interesting.

My original thoughts were, "Man, I dont want to see them in the jungle, ef that HIGH KEY".

So, now, all that being said? I LOVED The movie. Can it replace the classic? HEAVENS NO.

BUT, I really did enjoy a lot about the movie!

As I said, I didnt like the idea of them going to the jungle but after watching it, I think it was really brilliant and unique! It was an adventure movie. Im not even the BIGGEST adventure movie fan, but when I tell you, I LOVED this joint, I LOVED it!

It was really dope how it was like a live action video game. They had to go through levels, They had to defeat minions, and ultimately they had to defeat a big boss. It was really cool and funny how they had cut scenes like video games do and how some of the people they met were only pregrammed for certain responses, just like a video game.

The chemistry between the actors was great, too. WHEN I TELL YOU JACK BLACK ACTING LIKE A TEENAGE GIRL FOR 90 MINUTES IS EPIC, I MEAN EPIC!!! lol

I LOVED how they set up all four of the personalities between the teenage versions of the main character. I didnt see Kevin Hart or The Rock. I saw Spencer and Fridge trapped in their bodies. I have to give credit to all the adult actors for really playing the teenage versions of their "real selves" out so well.

The movie was smart.

Nick Jonas even had a nice little role in it! I said ok, getcho coins my bro! lol

All in all, I have to say I REALLY Enjoyed the movie. I was going into the movie expecting it to be trash, fr lol so maybe thats why I'm so impressed lol

If you have not seen it yet, I def reccomend it! Cant tell if you like it or not until you try it out for yourself!

I give it a 4/5!

Thanks for reading, Peace and much love!

From the moment I saw the very first trailer, I knew that Valerian was something that I HAD to see. As with romantic love, (no matter how much people dont want to admit it) The thing that normally first draws you towards your partner is the physical attraction. Well with this movie, it is DEFINITELY the beautful cinematography that wraps you in. I hope that analogy made sense lol

From beginning to end I was in awe at the visuals in this movie. I commend everyone involved with the creating of over 1000 different alien species and spacescapes! Just the thought of having to do that makes my brain ache lol

Im defintely a fan of space themed movies but I also feel like if youve seen one of them, you've seen them all. I love when actual iconic and rare space movies come around, which isnt very often. That being said, the year 2017 has provided us not one, but TWO Iconic Space themed movies. Valerian & Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.2.

2017 has been a year of exceptional movies and both Guardians of The Galaxy Vol2. & Valerian are in the top percent!

The plot of Valerian is pretty simple. A evil hearted human general commited genocide on a alien race and is now trying hard to cover his tracks.  Even though the concept is simple, I loved the themes of genocide, social  economics, racism, and more that were explored.

Even though nobody in the movie was too big named, I believe it still worked. Nobody in the movie really stuck out as phenomenal in their role to me, but nobody was bad at all in their role either. The characters were all interesting enough for me to defintely want more in a sequel.

Rihanna suprising had a reall good role! I was like aye you go RiRi!lol

I really do hope that this movie does well enough in the world market, because I really would love a sequel! I loved this movie and def would reccomend it to anyone looking for a dope scifi action summer flick!

Girls Trip [Movie Review]

"Girls Trip" was phenomenal . Walked out the theatre feeling like a proud black Woman at heart.
All jokes aside, foreal foreal, the foundation of this movie is great writing. Everyone had their back stories explored. The character of Dina was my fav ! Tiffany Haddish was perfect for it; She was the character that everybody needs in their circle of friends.
The relationship between Queen Latifah's character and Regina Hall's was real af. It was interesting to see the dynamic and their individual story line play out. And finally, Jada Pinkett Smith's straightlaced mom character was so cute omg. Like ahhh, I know shes like 20 years older than me but she was so adorable lol

I Loved all of the themes of black femininity and sisterhood. They really did do this movie for the culture because black Women are highly underrepresented in modern media.....even though black Women are the most swagger jacked! So I'm happy to see my Queens shine. All this being said, this is a movie that people of all races and backgrounds can enjoy. The white lady who was The agent ! Omg she was sooo funny !!!! Ahh , can't forget her lol Special shoutout to Larenz Tate's character for putting on for all of us good men out there! His character was cool . Let em know, Men like that Do exist! Ef Luke cage, doh. All in all girls trip was a exceptional summer action comedy and I recommend it to all !
4/5 stars
