Craig Irby Jr.

If you appreciate good music, a soulful voice, an acoustic sound — your definitely going to like this guy.  Reigning out of Portland, Oregon, Craig Irby Jr. takes us away from the electronic loops, and into his rabbit hole of good vibes.  From staying hip to his social media, based off of a few shares of his open mic performances, it looks like he’s about to drop an upcoming project.

In the meantime, Craig Irby Jr. has graced us with this organic and harmonious jazzy original, collaboration with Andrew Jones on the bass, and Andy Rayborn on the clarinet.  Multi-talented Craig Irby Jr. was on everything else — percussion, acoustic guitar, vocals and lyrics; recorded at Anjuna Studios with Slater Swan and Mercury Mastering.  Listen and stay tuned for more of his uplifting sound.

Listen to him lead his school's vocal group

The minimalistic yet powerful sound Adele creates in her global hit “Hello” from her multi-grammy predicted album, 25, created such a void, that spawned thousands of music producers to recreate.  For example like the video below, produced by Location, a small time music producer from New York.

Although continuouly adding more, Location’s close-to-200 instrumentals aren’t necessarily for pleasure-of-listening purposes, rather, they are constructed in a way for the project-oriented; musicians, filmmakers, or game developers, finding the perfect soundtrack to compliment a scene, a song, game, etc. So not only does this track intrigue with its certain instrumental absense, it does so, while blending vocal clips from Adele in “Hello” and Drake in “Come Thru”, so that it seems as though they are singing towards each other in conversation.

Aside from the critique of its length, once the blending happens so does the vibrance of the project, which begins to occur half-way of the track 3:30-4:00 minutes in.  The first few minutes is basically a simple stripped down beat with the chopped sample clips, I guess acting as a buffer for the color the mix dives into.

Blue Funk Orchestra needs a damn deal

This electrifying NYC street performing duo, sax player and drummer, can often be heard under the streets of NYC freestyling funky jazz sets that instantly get you movin’ to the beat, remniscent of that classic 90's hip hop feel, mixed in with a little bit of that contagious James Brown sound.

After the we recorded a set, which you can watch below, we asked for their name and the drummer replied Blue Funk Orchestra.

Someone please sign these guys.
